HPATV accepting MPEG2 files for broadcast server

Hartford Public Access Television began 2006 with a new MPEG-2 video server to provide the residents of Hartford with the highest quality broadcast of their programs. Programs must be on DVD or a MPEG-2 file to transfer to our servers. And we are aware that this transition is not a simple one for everyone, so please bare with us.

To assist in the transition, at the station we offer two SVHS/VHS decks for producers to come down and transfer their tapes to our server and encode to MPEG-2.

As for producers who already edit on computers at home, we have found that the following program, MPEG Streamclip, offers the best way to create a MPEG-2. It is available for Windows XP and Mac OS X. This is a FREE program created by a programmer in Italy. We have extensively tested it to make certain that it complies with the standards of our server. Check back soon and tutorials will be posted on this site.

New Program Server, New Program Drop Off Deadlines

Hartford Public Access Television has begun 2006 with a new MPEG-2 video server to provide the residents of Hartford with the highest quality broadcast of their programs. Programs must be on DVD or a MPEG-2 file to transfer to our servers.

Producers who have their programs on VHS, must bring Broadcast Masters to the station and transfer their programs to the servers (our staff will assist you in the very easy process). Bring a book or magazine, the transfer of VHS to the Server occurs in Real Time - that is, if the show is 30 minutes, it will take 30 minutes to transfer.

Due to these new procedures, there are also new Drop Off Deadlines for programs. All programs need to be at Hartford Public Access 2 DAYS BEFORE it is scheduled to air. Weekend shows must be in by Thursdays. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us by phone at (860) 524-8621.
